Meet Jürgen, a young boy overwhelmed by the subtle, violent force pervading life in his pastoral town—”something that was so totally chaotic and unlike the growth of an oak tree which is slow and peaceful and goes on forever.” Jürgen finds refuge in the woods, but his indomitable, nostalgic auntie hounds him, and the gangs of his school yard, obsessed with destroying his originality, close in on Jürgen over time. On the Stairs is Dan Ivec’s first book and it is a sad, funny, beautiful affair that Meekling Press is thrilled to release.
Dan Ivec’s stories, poems, and drawings, have been featured in Ugly Duckling’s6×6, Guernica, The Atlas Review, Minor Literatures, and Packingtown Review. He has an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and lives in Pittsburgh.
